It seems to me it might be an error to take the biblical account in the sense of history although it does speak of creation. What I have in mind instead would be a cultural account of the Kingdom of Heaven, the first humans worthy to be so called?
According to the Bible man was a created as a vegetarian (vegan in fact) from the beginning to the time of The Flood, after which meat eating was authorized. Yet we have evidence men were hunter-gatherers for eons before Eden. We also know that many animals eat meat. We know that the Old Stone Age lasted for a million years with very little change. Science is always looking for an explanation of the sudden leap which accompanies the New Stone Age, estimated about 8-9000 BC. That is about the time Eden was supposed to have existed. So could it be Adam & Eve were placed into a vegetarian setting for them created by God --or someone advanced enough?
Well they do coexist. It strikes me that a life of strict Biblical fundamentalism must be a very pleasant lifestyle--but science and technology are what support us economically and they do not come from religion. If we were all Amish, what would the world economy be like at the present population?
