This is a poem I wrote in high school that pretty much sums up those four years.
------------------------------ Plastic Smile --------------------------------------
Perfect smile, clean dress
Her life seems never to have any stress
Enemy? She seems to have none
Appears that she gets along with everyone
Plastic smiles and fake sunshine
Telling all she meets that all is fine
Yet, Behind her eyes the truth she wears
But not one person glances long enough to be aware
She surrounds her self in lots of tasks, and various activites
Known for bringing life to the festivities
In everything she does she seems to excel
Her unhappiness not one can tell
Flashing a smile and knowing
The truth her life is not showing
If she does it right nobody will ever see how hard she is trying,
Not to let them see inside she is slowly dying
Never wanting to upset a soul
Just puts on her smile and assumes her role
Living her life behind this mask
Her very existence seems to be a task
Inside her heart and soul are aching
Her life like crystal glass breaking
As the daylight emerges from the night sky
She arises from her slumber and lets out a sigh
Paints on her plastic smile and with it she brings her fake sunshine
Telling herself "remember when anyone asks, you are just fine."
