What are your feelings regarding Greek Life at universities in the US?

I am in a fraternity but I had very negative perceptions and feelings regarding Greek Life before I actually joined a fraternity.

I am looking forward to perceptions from both sides of this age-old debate.

Most thorough answer will be chosen as best answer.
 
Generally a waste of time and a big distraction. Marginal networking benefits. And there is no reason to belong to one if you do not get great networking benefits.
