What are two things scientists have given answers to in the last twenty years?

In the last twenty years scientists have been able to answer even more questions about the universe. Name two things for which science has given answers in the last twenty years. For example, space exploration have shown that there is no life on mars.
 
Actually, we don't know for sure whether or not life exist on Mars, of course, most likely not anything complex but there is the possibility of simple life forms. But while Mars is on our minds:

1. Space exploration has shown that methane exist on Mars.

2. There is a celestial body in our solar system larger than Pluto, that is also a trans-Neptunian Object (TNO) and a Kuiper Belt Object, known as Eris. This dwarf planet along with several others helped to debunk Pluto's status as a planet. Good move on the part of the IAU.
 
The existence of "hot-Jupiters."

Of course, these objects raise more questions than they answer.
 
Pluto wasn't a planet after all. :)

Confirmed the existence of other planets outside the solar system.
