...gender, sexuality, class, and race? I have to write an essay for my Gender and Film class that compares two movies in terms of technique (ex. frames, angles, lighting, mise en scene etc) as well as the symbolism and/or moral issues relating to gender, sexuality, race and class.

For example, in one class we watched the movie The Devil Wears Prada and discussed how Miranda (the head boss) is a phallic woman because she has power, however she seems to rely on Nigel (the homosexual man in the script) because he is a form of non-threatening masculinity, therefore won't take away her ultimate power.

An example of symbolism was in The Lion King, in the scene with Timon and Pumba eating the bugs, and one of the bugs has a white liquid project out of it. That was seen as a symbol of sexuality.

A lot of it seems very far fetched but that's sort of what I'm looking for. I've never been a huge movie watcher so I don't really know where to start getting ideas for movies to compare.
