What are the two bars in the trunk of my 2007 Ford Taurus SE?

There are three slots for the two bars. I pulled the bars out of the slots and now my trunk won't stay in the "up" position.
There's nothing in my manual about it!
Plz help!
 
they're a type of spring, called a torsion bar. They are designed to hold the trunk lid open. Put them back where they were and you should be ok.
