What are the top lies Americans fall for in regards to health-insurance reform spread...

...by insurance companies? ....and the recipients of their money? I like the following b/c it appears that millions are parroting these statements all the time:

1. "Everyone comes to America for health care b/c we are the best!"
ANSWER: Forbes Magazine (hardly a commie pinko socialist journal) published that 86,000 foreigners come to America for medical treatment. Not very impressive when you add up the populations of all the rich nations of the world as well as the number of people with a net worth of over one million internationally. Less impressive when you look at the numbers of Americans who now go abroad for quality treatment at a lower price in India, South Korea, Thailand and Israel. Israel alone receives 15,000 health tourists annually.

2. "Canadians are stuck with universal health care, they hate it and it's terrible, I know for a fact b/c I met a Canadian once who told me/my favorite radio talk show host told me/someone claiming to be a Canadian online told me"
ANSWER: Um, they hate it so much that they voted Tommy Douglas, the founder of that system, the "Greatest Canadian" of all time. Canada also has private health insurance/health care, as do Britain, France, Australia, Ireland and other countries. As for all Canadians coming down here, please go and look at the statistics....not very impressive considering that 30,000,000 people live up there and it's a wealthy country.

3. "A country with universal health care is socialist"
ANSWER: Um, Ireland, Switzerland, South Korea, Taiwan, Australia........just to name a few avowedly capitalist nations.

My favorite is the one about everyone coming to America, and when they respond with, "well, everyone wishes he could come here but the rest of the world is too poor" -----show them statistics on how many rich countries there are, how many millionaires there are in the world (I assure you it's more than 68,000) then repeat the number concerning how many come here annually. The insurance companies and their enablers have done a remarkable job at brainwashing....wait, let me take that back, it's not brainwashing if there is hardly a brain involved, which is true of people who spout such nonsense about the health care that is found in nations they couldn't even find on a map.
