heredity from your father? I'm curious on what I would require to obtain a British passport/citizenship through heredity, passed down from father. My father is a british born citizen, has a british passport, but has lived in the USA for the last 40 years, I was born in the US, and my parents were not wed when I was born, and i'm getting conflicting information as to if it is still possible for me to obtain my british citizenship. To give enough information on what i'm see'ing, I'm 21, I was born in 1989, like I said, my parents were un-wed when I was born. Not sure if this counts, but in the state of Texas, for legal purposes you become legally married by living with someone as a couple for I believe it was a time frame of 7 years? Regardless my parents met that requirement after I was born, but I'm not sure if that's recognized as a legitimate marriage in the eyes of the British Embassy. Thanks for the help!
