I want to attend UWF in the fall and i graduate high school in May 2010. I think I am ready and I really want to go ahead and go. However, this is a college in my hometown and my parents think I should stay here and get my AA and then transfer but I would rather go ahead and go to UWF after I graduate. Can anyone tell me any pros or cons of doing this? I think if I give my parents good facts they might reconsider their decision. Thanks!

It will help you to mature faster if you go away to school. Living at home is very nice, but it doesn't teach you the important lessons of life. Like what to do when you're sick and Mommy isn't there. :-) You learn who your true friends are (they'll go buy you orange juice, etc.). Also, you'll learn to interact with other people - your roommates and other people in your dorm. And you'll be responsible for getting your assignments done by yourself, etc.
If you get into UWF it makes much more sense to go rather than getting an AA first. If you transfer in with an AA, you may have to take extra classes to make up the difference between your AA and the two years at UWF.
Good Luck!
