what are the pros and cons of obsession/addiction to the media?

The media nowadays influences alot of our lives, and it includes:
Music, movies, video games, magasines, Television, the Internet, and etc.
Looking at the internet, you can see good and bad with it, but what do you think are pros and cons of obsession to the media in general?
