what are the probable fees after buying condo?

i dream of having my own condo here in the city.(my dreamhouse would in my hometown, in my province..a house for my parents and little bro)

I like condo, but the thing that turned me off was the other fee as they say like maintenance fee, etc. is that mandatory? or optional? lets say i dont want maintenance fee..what would happened?
