M1A1 Bangalore Torpedo
The Bangalore torpedo was designed in 1912 by Capt. McClintock who worked for Bengal, Bombay and Madras
Sappers and Miners. It was developed in Bangalore, India and the original design was not intended for war but to clear
existing barbed wire obstacles leftover from the Boer and Russo-Japanese wars.
It was adopted by the U.S. Army as an antipersonnel mine clearing charge and can clear a .6 meter footpath as long as
the the connecting pieces. The Bangalore is still being employed today in a modern version.
