What are the major problems facing today's modern day visual artists?

In today's fast paced world, ideas are flying over the place, competition is increasing and every one thinks there are absolutely no worries. The modern day artists lose themselves in their work, putting their feelings and ideas on paper, canvas, wall...who knows..they are only expressing themselves and expect every one else to like what they come up with.
What challeges might these poeple actually have? Some how, poeple always seem to like what they come up with. What could be the biggest challege that all visusl artists might face, highly productive or not, there must be a cmomon error that they all have to overcome.
 
Technology, little societal appreciation for the time and effort it takes to produce handmade art, age of instant gratification, commercialism...
