In the ''The return of the native'' Hardy asserts the human weakenesses largely determine the course of events, and are , to a considerable extent , responsible for the misery of the various character . Thomas hardy teels us that some time man becomes selfish and blind for his own desires and doe not think about the humanity .Moreover hardy says that when human beings are not themselves responsible for the frustration of their hopes . or when their owm tempaments and mutual conflicts do not wreck their happiness , fate intervence in shape of chance or coindence to contrubute to , or to compelete their ruin , For insatance , JOHNY NUNSUCH has overhead the conversation between ''EUSTACIA'' and ''WILDEVE'' when the latter visited Eustacia in response to her signal of the bonfire . ''JOHNY'' then happens to meet the ruddleman purely by chance . The ruddle learns from thelittle boy of ''WILDEVE's'' involvement with Eustacia , and this information sets him thinking . The ruddleman decides to serve Thomasin,s interests by dissuading Eustacia from having anything more to do with Wildeve , but he fails in his purpose and recieves what is almost a rebuff from, Eustacia .Feeling disappointes by his failure and feeling convinced that Eustacia would never give up Wildeve , he goes to Mrs Yeobright and renews his origional offer to marry Thomasin . Mrs Yeobright uses this offer as a handle to put pressure on Wildeve who visits . Thomasin , after first meeting Eustacia , and promises to marry her.
In short this entire sequence of events is determined by the chance encounter of Johny with ruddlemen .As a result of this chance the ruddleman becomes actively involved in the affairs of the principle characters .''CHRISTIAN CANTLE'' who is carrying Mrs Yeobright,s money , accidentally meets agroup pf village folk who take him to a raffle where, by a chance stroke of good luck , christian wins a prize . Encouraged by his good fortune he agrees to play the game of dice with Wildeve . Christian first loses his own money and then stakes Mrs Yeobright,s money , losing the entire around to Wildeve. The ruddleman now appears and invites Wildeve to anoher bout .Tgis time luck favours the ruddleman and he wins the whole amount from Wildeve . The ruddleman then goes and hand over the entire amount to Thomasin , not realising that half the money was to be delivered to ''Clym'' . When Mrs Yeobright fails to recieve an acknowledgement from Clym , she goes to Eustacia and asks her if she has recieved any money from Wildeve . This question , innocently asked , creates a misunderstanding and results in bitter quarrel between the two women , thus complicating Eustacia,s relationship with Clym.
If Christian cantle had not by chance met the village folk and if had not been taken to ruffle , he would have gone straight to Thomasin and Clym and delivered the money to both , so that there would have been no occasion for Mrs Yeobright and Eustacia to clash with each other and to exchange hot words .
Moreover Tho,mas hardy criticise the luxurious nature of Eustacia , she married Clym in her own interest to leave the town ''EGDON HEATH'' . She wanted to go Paris after after her marry with clyn she had relationship with Wildeve also because she realized that Clyn did,nt want to leave Egdon heath because he wanted to built a school for the poor people of his town that is wht hw went to paris before marryy for achieving his plan . Eustacia was selfish , she had not any concern from clym,s ruinness . She met with Wildeve , when clym was not at home and broke his trust . Clym was compelled to become a of cutter of furze . Clym,s blindness in Eustacia,s love could see and realized her real face , which was so bright but at heart , black .When clym saw Eustacia,s secretly meeting with Wildeve he kicked her from, his house . But Eustacia deciced that time that she will leave the Egdon heath with Wildeve . That is fate that when she leaved the town at nigt then the weather was so bad and she slipped in thepond of deep water and died. When clym decided to take her back at home then she was not in the world .
