I own a Ford Crown Victoria that was once a patrol car and was wondering if anyone had any information on the legality of owning one. It is entirely black in color and has been stripped of all police equipment, the only remnants of its past are the spotlights and push bar. When I first bought it, the cage was still in it and because of this, I was pulled over by a cop and told to get rid of it. However I was not given a citation. Since then the cage has been taken out and I have had no problems with the law regarding the car, but I would still like to know exactly what the rules are on this anyway.
I only use this vehicle to go to and from college and to make short trips to places near home. It is not my intention to play cop so do not jump to any conclusions and judge me based on the car I own. Legal experts and active or retired law enforcement officer's knowledge would be extremely helpful though! Thank you for your time!
