What are the ins and outs of a mail order business?

I have several novelty products I make at home that I would like to sell thru mail order.
What are some of the ins and outs of mail order? Is it ok to use your home address? Should I change the address a little, like add a suite number? Is Ebay like mail order?

Any information or web sites that might help.
