What are the huge chrome bars behind the back windows of some pickup trucks?

You know which ones I'm talking about, it's the massive Ford F-OneMillionandFifty diesel (with a hemi), with an eight foot lift, a massive 'chrome' fiberglass grill, and a pair of truck nuts.

Anyway, I saw a truck like this, and it had four of those huge bars in the back of the bed, right behind the back window. They seem to suggest that they would serve as protection from stuff in the bed of the truck flying into the cab, but as these bars just go around the window, it's just for looks. It looks like a 6 inch chrome pipe... sometimes they have those driving lights on top... I just can't think of what you would call it.

Can anyone help me out?
Oh, there we go. It never occurred to me that they might be roll bars, simply because they don't seem like they'd do much. Thanks! I will best answer you when YA will let me.
