What are the expenses and requirements of having a tricycle business?

I'm thinking about buying a tricycle for my wife's father and brother so they can use it to make extra income. First, how much is a good quality used tricycle (motorcycle not bicycle) and how much is a new one? What is a franchise and boundary fee and what will that cost them? Are there any licensing fess to legally run a tricycle service? By the way, they live in Quezon province. Salamat po!

New expect P60,000 for a new 125 cc motorcycle and P30,000 for the sidecar. Roughly half that or less depending on condition.
LTO Franchising fees and insurance should run about P15,000 per year. Plus maintance. (They eat allot of brakes and tires.)

I know you mean well and you want to help your wifes family but, we all keep making the same mistakes. The expenses of that operation are never-ending and grow exponentially. You will regret ever doing it. If you really want to help them just give them a food allowance of 2-3 thousand pesos a month and forget the business end of it. That's more than they'll ever make on the potpot and it'll take years before you reach up to the level you would have forked out up front. BTW, your initial costs will run closer to 200,000 before they ever turn 1 peso of income. Just friendly advice. Take it or leave it.

A brand new motorcycle, will cost you around 80k to 100k pesos. plus the sidecar which is roughly between 10k to 15k pesos.
If you're on a used tricycle it will cost much less.. Not sure about the exact figures.
You have to pay also some LTO registration for your tricycle to be allowed for public transport(yellow colored plate number) not a private one(green). also you have to pay the mayor's permit and the franchise.
Since they are from the province, the franchise is a lot cheaper than in the cities.

Hope that helps a little bit..
Cannot provide you with exact figures... Sorry..
