there are lots of pedals and stomp boxes you can buy, but the 2 pedals I would recommend are wah-wah and whammy pedal. Both are useful. For the wah wahs, I would actually recommend a Signature model depending on the kind of music you like, for example, the Kirk Hammet Signature wah wah is very aggressive and sounds good.

The wah-wahs pedals make well, a wah wah sound.
The DigiTech Whammy pedals jump or descend octaves.
