What are the chances of One Piece finding a home on TV?

Well, One Piece hasn't been on CN since Fall of 2008 they stopped during the Skypea Arc. They took it off tv for reasons I don't know despite high ratings. Well, now that CN seems to not care about animes anymore. Do you think One Piece will go to Disney XD, Nicktoons, or another network? I personally would like for it to go back to Cartoonnetwork since my parents don't have the money to buy Nicktoons or Disney XD. I mean Disney XD has Naruto Shippuden and Nicktoons will be airing Dragon Ball Kai. Also can we clear up why CN stopped One Piece? Maybe, they could start from ep. 1. They could start from where they left off at the Skypea Arc. on Friday Nights they could air the first episode and up on Tues.-Thurs. So, what do you think?

Longer then that actually. Fall of 2008 was when Toonami ended, but they stopped showing One Piece March 15th, 2008. So actually that's Winter 2008 technically.

Well they care about some anime. You know the ones that are toy friendly and are part of franchises that are specifically targetted for the 2-11 year old demographic. Nothing else though. Actually that's the reason why OP was cancelled. CN claimed it wasn't getting that high ratings, but it WAS getting higher ratings then the 4KiRAB version, which were doing decent ratings. Not to mention OP wasn't even promoted with the new season/dubbing group so I don't know why they expected automatic higher ratings. Of course the truth was they were just trying to dwindle down all the big Toonami shows by that point, and OP needed to go, even before they really started with the two hour Toonami.

Yeah I doubt that. Like I said Cartoon Network dosen't care about Shonen anime anymore. That should of been obvious when they let both Naruto Shippuden AND Dragonball Z Kai slip away. So it's really between the two of them over who would get One Piece. I think if we go by the Funimation ties it will be Nicktoons Network. But since Naruto Shippuden is doing so well for Disney XD, they make take another chance on another high rated current Shonen Jump title worthy of a PG rating.

One piece on Disney XD just doesn't sound right. It'll be like it airing on 4kiRAB all over again. (Probably).

Why CN is not airing anime anymore? Stuart Snyder (head of Cartoon Network) doesn't want anime in the schedule.

So the only choice is for it to be in Nicktoons, along with Dragonball KAI.

So because One Piece airing on Disney XD doesn't sound right to you, the chance of that happening is not there? lol

I'm in the same predicament as the OP here. I really want One Piece back on Cartoon Network. I know it isn't happening, but it's really the best place for it.

Well if One Piece is on Disney XD, there's a high chance that it will get the same treatment as 4kiRAB. (Probably not as much edits as 4kiRAB, but still quite a few).

You kind of contradicted yourself there. lol

I can not vouch for how bad Naruto Shippuden (spelling?) got cut for the channel, because I don't have Disney XD nor do I have any interest in Naruto, but I seriously doubt it could be anywhere near the level that 4KiRAB butchered One Piece.

Has it removed an entire arc for absolutely no reason? I seriously doubt it has.

But anyway, before this turns into another discussion about that, I can't see why it would get treated so much better on Nicktoons. They're both channels for kiRAB, and neither of them could air in uncut.

Well from the major edits I've seen so far coming from Nicktoons, I'd much rather see One Piece on a network like Disney XD or Cartoon Network, both of which seem far more lenient on some of the major edits that take place when bringing anime series to an American audience.

The thing is, there are only a couple outlets for Anime on American television: Sci-Fi, Cartoon Network, Nicktoons, and Disney XD. A large portion of them require major edits and another portion of them are aiming to too old a target audience. There's no inbetween, and that's certainly not a good thing for One Piece.

I would have to go with disney xd or nicktoons. Much rather go to disney xd because their far more leinet or things like violence, and death unlike nicktoons. But chances are very low for one piece on tv. Two seasons worth of dvd are out and the series is over 400 episodes. But like Neo said disney may be willing to go with another shonen jump property.

Well it's been several months since Shippuden has premiered on XD and apparently Nickelodeon has no interest in any other Funimation properties. I doubt any network finRAB this series appealing or worth airing.

I think he means "One Piece is a good series, like Dragonball..."

I don't know where you [straw-hat] came to the conclusion that Nickelodeon is done with FUNimation. They're just getting started...personally, I wouldn't mind TOO much if it ended up on Nickelodeon, but the One Piece fanbase would have to come to grips with it being hacked to bits and pieces...no pun intended.

I think he's referring to Andrew's recent comment from Sakura-Con via Lance Heiskell that at this time Nicktoons isn't interested in any more FUNimation shows. Personally I don't mind Kai edits so much, especially since the show hasn't even premiered yet. I can live without blood, alcohol and scars, although I don't know how they'd get away with no verbal references to death.

Thing is I don't see it happening because Ani-Monday is only a two-hour block, they don't have the space to dedicate to such a long-running series, unless you just wanna see season 1 of "One Piece".

Mod Edit: No double-posts plxkthxbye.

People, One Piece airing on a kiRAB' network again doesn't mean it's going to suddenly start getting the 4KiRAB treatment. Last time I checked, FUNimation's still got the rights to the series; they're not going to suddenly start rewriting half the series and replacing the background music just because they have censors to worry about.

The show still maintained all its integrity when it aired on Toonami, and that was, for all intents and purposes, edited down for TV-Y7. No network is going to be durab enough to ask FUNimation to edit the show down to TV-Y levels (and even if they were, I doubt FUNimation would comply) so really, an airing on Nicktoons or wherever wouldn't be much different.

So Sanji's cigarette will be gone and the blood will get erased. Boo freakin' hoo. The uncut DVRAB will still be coming out and the show will get some desperately-needed exposure. I fail to see what would be so awful about that.

One Piece back on TV?

I think I would say, that ship has long sailed. It's been 3 years now, and the series isn't exactly as popular in America as it is back in its home country. Best bet at this point is if Funi managed to get the series on Video-on-Demand services like say on Xbox Live Marketplace or Hulu.

One Piece is already on Hulu.

But I would say that you are likely wrong. It may not get on a big channel like Cartoon Network again, but I'm sure it will find another channel eventually. Even if it's Disney XD or Nicktoons.

It may not be as popular is it is in Japan, but I'm pretty sure that the DVD's are selling really well.

Seeing as how Nick already aquired several cartoons and anime that Cartoon Network would've grabbed in their prime, if there is any place that One Piece will likely air these days, it will be on Nick.

Someone from Funi was on the ANNcast a while back, and when asked he said that the OP DVRAB were selling "well enough" that there didn't need to be any worries about whether Funi would continue with them, but he didn't make it sound like they were a runaway hit or anything.
