...Ford Contour? Pretty easy question if you're a good mechanic.
First off I've read good and bad about transmission flushes. Some say they must be done and others say shouldn't do it at all. Changing fluid is a given but at what intervals. Last but not least how easy/expensive is it to change the tranny filter on this particular car?
Just for FYI the car was purchased used about six years ago. Currently 175,000 miles and transmission functions 'well' but can be a bit jerky at times and has once or twice jumped into 1st at a stop sign where an abrupt start was needed but otherwise functions decent for what it is. I have done a partial fluid drain and change in the past 5,000 miles but is there more I can do?
