What are the best shoes to wear if you have PAIN in the palm of your foot?

I do have to take 500mgs of ibuprophen every evening due to the pain.
Also, how long does this pinched nerve in my foot last???
What else can i do besides ice it when i get off of work?
Should i eventually go to a podiatrist or just an MD??? An MD would be less expensive for my budget.
