people always go on about gangsters movies and action movies, well ive just watched pirates of the caribbean and it was great. what are some other good pirate films, because now im really interested in watching some more.

These type of movies are killing the movie industry, go to the cinema or wait for the official release on DVD, the profits are probably ending up in drugs

shame on you;)

what are you talking about. theres hardly any pirate movies out there. i can only think of a couple and thats pirates of the caribbean and master and commander. and what do you mean the profits will probably end up in drugs, drug dealers dont make pirate movies.

Cant beat Captain Pugwash for instant relief

Two truly awful films with pirates was the one with Harrison Ford stranded on a desert island after a plane crash

and Hook (but I wont relive the horror here)

Errol Flynn and the swash buckling era confirmed that any film at sea was likely to be bloody expensive to film, so Disney worked round it with Peter Pan and then Pirates of the Carribean.

i wouldn't call it the best, but if you're looking for a pirate film that's tongue in cheek, then look no further than "THE PIRATE" starring GENE KELLY and JUDY GARLAND.

Best Pirate Film Bar POTC - Crimson Pirate with Burt Lancaster. The gag with Jack and Will walking underwater using a rowing boat as a makeshift submarine is an homage to this film.

Cutthroat Island with Geena Davis - not as bad as everybody thought at the time.

Swashbuckler with Robert Shaw and Genevieve Bujold - daft 70s pirate movie reminiscent of Shaw's 50s tv show The Buccaneers.

The Pirate Movie - Cheesy Australian update of Pirates of Penzance. Totally nuts.

Pirates with Walter Matthau

Captain Blood with Errol Flynn

Hook (ugh)

The Sea Hawk with Errol Flynn

And not forgetting the Crimson Permanent Assurance sequence from Monty Python's Meaning of Life...
