what are the best HD settings for a Panasonic HDC-SD9 Camcorder?

I got this camera as a gift, and I'd love to know the best HD settings for this camera in the daytime and in the night, or in low lit places...I really need the help for this as this is my first camera...I need opinions from people who have shot some footage with this
