What are the best cooking wines?

Is there a particular type of white wine I should use when cooking (ie Chardonnay vs Riesling). Also any recommendation for red wines?

Only use wine that you would drink.

A good quality Chardonnay or Chablis. But not too expensive.

Use regular wine that you would drink. Cooking wine doesn't taste good.
I use burgundy wine for red meat, any white wine works well.
