I am entering my first mountain bike race in May, I just started training for it. I am not a fitness geek by any means, but I stay in good shape. I have been hitting the exercise bike at the gym and I am working on getting a bike to do some actual riding. I am just curious to see what times to shoot for, I am going to shoot for 1st place times in my training and practice, although I expect to come in the middle of the pack on race day, and I will be doing it for me and not to win a race, it would still be fun to be rewarding mentally to be towards the front of the pack. I also don't want to be the guy coming in dead last. I realize that every race, people in it, and terrain will play a huge factor in time, just looking for averages for a beginner class 10k. Also any training techniques are appreciated.
