What are the advantages and disadvantages of non-renewable sources of energy?

Non renewable sources of energy:
Solarpower:Depends on incoming solar radiation as to how effective it is. would generate less electricity at night, and on cloudy days and in the winter in comparision to on a warm summers day. expensive
Windpower: windturbines can cause strobing of light, so cant be places by motorways. They depend on the wind, which is highly variable, and would need alot of them to power a city. expensive. People have the "not in my backyard" approach.
Tidal Power: People dont want them on the coast as they have impacts on wildlife, and fish and also on shipping routes. They dont generate alot of electricity.
Hydroelectric Power: Huge environmental impacts due to construction of the dam. (reduced river dischange downstream), flooding of land behind the dam. Rely on presence of suitable river, and are expensive to construct.
Nuclear power: Highly contreversal due to radioactive waste. Relatively cheap but people dont want it in there backyard. Possibility of nuclear meltdown.

None of them realise GHG's which are potentially a cause of climate change, but also pollute the local environment.

The nonrenewable energy source of oil is WRONG !! Where did our first oil come from ,not animal... The cycle of plants recycling CO2 to O2 is just one part of it. The plants keep the C in there leaves ,which will break down into OIL > The plants have recycled it for millions of years and will continue.

I say there r more disadvantages then advantages in non-renewable sources of energy.i know no advantages sry. :( But there is a HUGE
list of disadvantages. Here is one to get u started.

When non-renewable energy(or fossil fuels) r burned, they burn the ozone layer in the atmosphere. That causes global warming, which could cause more concentrated storms.

Good luck on ur science project!
