What are some wow factors for a pre-med, in order to increase his/her chances of getting into med school?

I am currently a sophomore, majoring in Bioinformatics. This is currently not my best semester. I'm struggling with my classes. My father had passed away last month, and I've been having a very rough time. I feel like I haven't given my best in my academics, so I'm not sure exactly how my gpa is going to turn out to be.
Currently here's my status:
I am a member of AMSA (American Medical Student Association).
A dancer on the ISSA (Indian Subcontinent Student Association) Dance Team
I play Intramural Soccer.
I plan to do two study abroads this coming summer: (1) In China: Where I'll learn about traditional Chinese medicine along with modern medicine & genetic engineering (2) In Brazil: Where I'll learn about international health, community health, & public relations.

Therefore, I want to increase my chances in whatever way I can to get into medical school. Please give me a list of wow factors that can make me different from the pool of pre-meds & at the same time prove to medical school that I am a valid applicant. I'm sure there must be more.
