I personally think that Angels and Demons (also by Dan Brown) is better than the Da Vinci Code. And Digital Fortress (same author) is also nice.

If you like Twilight, you might like The Vampire Diaries by LJ Smith.

For funny books, try any by Meg Cabot. My fave include: Teen Idol, the Mediator series, Size 12 Is Not Fat, and Nicola and The Viscount.

I love Harry Potter, but so far, I haven't read any books comparable to it. But maybe you could try Inkheart series. My friend loves it but I haven't gotten around to reading it.

If you want to try fairy tale-ish books that are quite enjoyable and funny, try books by Gail Carson Levine. I love Ella Enchanted by that author (fyi, the movie is totally different from the book).

Try A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray. It's a series consisting of 3 books. One of my fave series ever, it's far better than Twilight. It's a bit of fantasy, mystery, gothic, and some romance.

The Luxe is also quite nice. There's a bit of mystery there, but not much.

There are a ton of great books out there. I'm not sure if you are just looking for some new ones, or if you are open to others, but here are some you can look at.

Angels and Demons (same author as davinci code)
Fablehaven
Magyk
Artimus Fowl
The Vampire Diaries
Ender's Game
