The Source, by James Michener. It follows a small community in Israel from the "caveman days" to the present time... going through a ton a fascinating history; most interestingly, the dawn of organized religion and the development of Judaism, Christianity and Islam. One of my favorite books ever! (And there are Greeks and Egyptians in it, as well as a bunch of other groups who controlled the area throughout history).
