i must warn.. ive been loving and watching horror movies since i was like 4 and im pretty difficult with a...refined(?[for lack of a better term]) taste..
here are some of my favourite movies, just to give an example of my taste:
-Begotten (great depiction of eerie)
-Jacobs ladder
-silent hill 2 (not really any other silent hills, except maybe the first game, and yes, i know it aint a movie, but it depicts that indirect inconclusive creepy story telling that ive grown so fond of, although the movie was complete shit..)
-pretty much all the david lynch movies ive seen, although i aint yet seen mulholland drive or blue velvet, as sinful as that may seem. but particularly that scene in lost highway when the creepy guy asks him to ask him where he is etc..
-not quite horror but im extremely fond of alejandro jodorowsky's work. (i kinda want an el topo themed tattoo)
-i think i really liked rosemary's baby from what i can remember about it pretty much just seeming like hysteria and paranoid insanity, but i was super stoned..
lets see... what else...
-well, when i was very little, i really liked the langoliers (i remember staying home from kindergarten and watching that one while eating white chocolate chips.. good times..) and for some reason, i fuckin LOVED puppet master..
-and i kinda liked the scene from dead end after the son dies with the crazy mom..
not so much a fan of slashers (with the exception of 'the rise of leslie vernon'.. if you never heard of it or aint seen it, but you like horror or slashers.. do it RIGHT NOW..), but ill be damned if i aint seen a boatload of em..
uuhh... as if this description wasnt long and picky enough, i think ill add a few themes that have always caught my attention:
-insanity(not like *AARGH IM CRAZY SO I THINK ILL STAB YOUU* but like genuine disturbed behavior.. like in rosemays baby.)
-illogical spaces or infinities (like that scene in the movie "house" where that guy breaks his mirror and falls inside)
-mystery and mysticism.. as it can never be truly defined..
-ive always loved zombie movies.. my first and probably favourite would be the night of the living dead remake, and if you got something to say about it, like "the black and white one is way better!", then you can eat 12 dicks... plus mine.
-god, the ocean, and space..
-and for some reason, im afraid of mannequins..
again.. i know... i know.. im being impossibly picky for most of you, but im sure theres at least ONE cinephile out there who can help me out.. one person who comes across this question and gets my taste.. can yahoo answers successfully answer my first query? as picky as i may seem, really, just suggest anything, and ill probably give it a shot if it sounds any good.
and if it helps, my favourite movie is 2001: a space odyssey.
cat lover!! so far your taste has been the closest mine! ive seen funny games and hard candy and loved them both... whats weird is, i was starting my download for funny games(felt like watching it tonight for some reason) literally 30 seconds before i checked the answers to my questions.. i'll be sure to check out the other 2 right now..
