What are some lacrosse drills I can do?

Hi, so I am going to play defenseman for my high school's lacrosse team this year. I have never played lacrosse before in my life. I have a short stick (I've been told for D its better to practice with a short stick) and a ball. I am definetly going to play D or goalie (I'm 6'0 and 235 lbs). But I was wondering some drills I could do to get ready? I've been playing wall ball and cradaling, but I need to work on my speed and technique (i've heard D is all about footowork). Also, I'm ambidextrous, so if there are any special drills I can do so I can use either hand... Anything would help, thanks!
