what are some good topics for writing a book?

this is for school...i need to write a short story
so wat r some good topics
cuz i cant think of anything
dont tell me what to write about
by topics i mean like:
murder
dogs

things like that...but those arent very interesting so plz give me a good idea....all i need is something to start with
 
do a horror or suspense! i did that and when i was done presenting everyone was silent. i thought it was terrible until people seriously clapped! i was so happy!
