What are some good places to study in Kansas City?

I have a lot of trouble looking for a good place to study with free wifi and late hours. It's hard because there are bits and pieces of what I want in certain coffee shops, but they don't have everything. I've already tried the plaza library (never guaranteed to find a seat), Border's (I can't stand their coffee), and Starbucks (wifi not free).

I guess I'm looking for mainly free wifi and good coffee. Also, someplace that's not so crowded on Friday and Saturday nights I end up not finding a place to sit, and hopefully something that's open until midnight everyday.....

Any suggestions? If you have one, it doesn't have to fit everything although I really hope there's something that does! Thanks.
I think I need to clarify a few points. I have already studied at home and it's too distracting, that's why I study outside in the first place. The next obvious place I've tried was the library, but I hate that place and I know too many people -- it's distracting.

I just want a simple cafe with random background noise. Plus, I don't care who owns who, I still dislike Seattle's Best coffee. My tongue does not like it and yes, I do realize Borders does not have free wifi, I didn't want to list out everything wrong with each place.

A library? Possibly the one on campus?

And, It's interesting that you don't like the coffee at Border's, yet you like the coffee at Starbuck's, when it's all the same stuff. Starbucks owns Seattle's Best (which is the café at Borders) and the coffee is all the same. Note the initials. BTW, their wifi isn't free, either.

And, ummmm...ever consider working AT HOME?
