What are some good makes of cars that are reliable? Ford, Nissan, Chevy, etc?

I'm getting ready to purchase a car this Wednesday and I wanted to see what some good makes are. Reliable ones. I'm told Ford is really good. And I'm also told to stay away from Dodge and GMC because they're NOT reliable. What are your takes on different makes? What's reliable and what's not?
 
honda is the most reliable car company in the world. Toyota also. ford is better than anything gm though. go japanese. stimulate American economy other ways. buy a car to last. comsumer reports and things like that can tell more
 
Most popular car companies make some cars that are very reliable and some that aren't so great. You just have to research them before you buy. Typically, anything from GM, Ford, or Chrysler is pretty good (the big 3 American companies). Most Japanese car companies make great cars now too and have for decades. GMC is a truck company from GM, they don't make any cars.

The person that told you Ford is good and stay away from GM and Chrysler is just brand loyal to Ford. This is very common. The truth is, all 3 companies have their good and bad vehicles. Also, how a vehicle is maintained is equally or more important than what it is.
 
Hondas are very reliable very little work is needed. Ford are not so great my F150s tire fell off while driving down the street and its lifted big fall trust you dont want that, Chevy's are good too it depends on how much you can spend if you can go Avalon very nice. If its your first car or you really dont know about cars go with a Honda accord very cool... ps im selling a '87 Cadillac DeVille but not so great
