What are some good experiments to do while hiking a mountain?

My school is going on a field trip to Mt. Major in NH and for our science class we need to do some sort of experiment as we go up.. ex. does the color jacket you wear affect body temp.? (but we cant use that one)
 
I went to mount firescrew in new hampshire on a school trip, and during the walk, we stopped to looked at mushrooms. We poked some, and smoke like substance floated out. Also we really examined the gills of a mushroom. This was very interesting, and if you do it, i hope you find it interesting too.
