I am thinking about buying a bike to get to and from school and after looking around, I decided on this method: Quick release front wheel to take off and secure to back wheel and frame with a U-lock and attach the entire thing to the gate outside of my school. Some things I have also been considering is locking skewers for my seat and front wheel in addition to a u-lock to the back wheel and frame, but there isn't much information about how well those work. So, to summarize, what I would like to know is if anyone has suggestions on how to improve the way i lock the bike?

I'm about 5' 9 so the bike would be fairly large (don't know if that makes a difference, but just in case)
The school has two buildings, one for freshmen and one for sophomores-seniors and in the area between the two is where people generally keep their bikes; people are always moving through there in passing periods (there are about 2,000 students at my school)
I am using a pretty standard Master Lock u-lock
There is video surveillance on the school campus
