what are some exercises to make me faster?

I will have access to the gym 2 times a week, until summer then i will have 3 times a week. Other than the obvious sprints up and down the street, and up a hill, what can i do to become faster? Our football coach says lunges will help with speed because it targets the hamstring, but what else is there? i was leg pressing 200lbs today (i know im weak, but this is my second time at the gym, cut me some slack) and plan on increasing. Will this help my speed? I can jump rope, football ladder, and do the thing where you stand straight, bend down and pick the bar up without bending your arms. How much should i do, and what will make me faster? Thanks to all helpful answers :)
