When Edward left her in New Moon...she didn't freak out or go crazy...she just became extremely depressed and didn't do or say anything for months...until Charlie said that she was scaring him and needed to snap out of it.
When she starts doing dangerous things...it's not because she's actually suicidal it's because it's the only way she can hear Edwards voice.
