What are some CRUCIAL BEGINNER piano tips and techniques?

Hello everyone,

I just purchased a keyboard (Casio Privia PX130) and I'm more than excited/ready to start learning how to play the piano. I have some experience with music and theory, I am a DJ and my ears are trained somewhat. Here is my problem:

Can you guys please give me some IMPORTANT and CRUCIAL tips/tricks for beginning 'self-teaching' piano players. Things like posture, fingering techniques, etc. Pretty much, things your piano teacher will tell you right off the bat.

[As of now, I have Piano for Dummies w/ CD, Top40 sheet music book, and 2 small tutorial books (which don't go into much depth compared to the Piano for Dummies)]

Because I heard it's extremely difficult to teach yourself piano simply because you learn very bad habits that will be very difficult to remedy. I'm playing for fun, not professionally, but would eventually like to work my way up to jazz and/or classical style. I was also considering taking classes but they prove way too expensive, unfortunately. Maybe in the future I'll take classes once I get a steady income.

For the time being, hints tips and tricks?

Thanks in advance!
