A circle has no beginning, it has no end. No civilization has ever reached that impossible standard.

Take Rome. It had a beginning, a middle and an end. Not a circle.

Now if you are looking to make a circle pie chart, you can start and the beginning of Rome, with the Kings, then the Republic, then the Empire. Put those in a percentage each was what was Rome. You will be taking a linear object and pulling one end to the other.

Is this an attempt to talk about how history repeats itself?

If that is the case:

Assyria thought it was great, it conquered a lot of nations and thought they would remain in power.
Babylon took over Assyria. Babylon thought it was great, it conquered a lot of nations and thought they would remain in power.
Persia took over Babylon. Persia thought it was great, it conquered a lot of nations and thought they would remain in power.
Greece took over Persia. Greece thought it was great, it conquered a lot of nations and thought they would remain in power.
And so on...
