Resident doom-and-gloom homeschooler here, much less doomy and gloomy after radically correcting my diet; apparently being deficient in everything isn't good for you. Who knew?
Anyway, I have some rather ambitious conservatory plans. Yes, Azathoth wants to be a composer. Azathoth also has a bit of a problem because the conservatories Azathoth plans to go are the kinds that draw Korean kids on scholarships, so Azathoth would like a reputable GPA.
So the basic deal is, I'm pretty good with music and while I haven't composed anything yet, I get closer every day as I learn more music theory. I'm pretty sure that I'll have a few compositions done by the time the next school year starts, and I then have a whole year to seriously pursue music. However, these conservatories want more than your audition; they want your GPA. Currently my transcript is about half made-up. What I'm after is some curriculum with a well-known name so I can take care of world history, European history, chemistry, and physics. Something meant for self-instruction would be the best thing.
Right now all I can think of is A Beka. I'd like something book-based -I've had enough of online classes- and cheaper is better. I figure that if I focus on one subject at a time I could finish each one in 1-2 months; I'm a quick learner.
So what do you guys recommend?
Alpha Omega is looking pretty good. Does anyone have experience with them?
