What are some books to read? Star trek?

I am running low on reading material. I want a new book!!
I am not looking for anime. I was also wondering(since there are many) which Sta Trek book is the first in the series? They are marked very strangely and I cannot find the correct numbering on it.
All help is amazing!

Unfortunately, Star Trek has been published by more than one publisher over the past 30 years, so any numerical system has to be something cooked up by someone who has read them all and split them up into their various "slots". Remember: Star Trek is more than Captain Kirk. Some stories take the Trek all the way back to the beginnings, some others bounce it beyond Picard. Others veer off into Klingon Territory, Romulan Territory, or onto Vulcan. If I remember correctly, the first
"Trek" stories were just written versions of what was on television. When those sold well, other stories started appearing, and then another publisher came along and whoosh! Kirk was cranked out by the dozens! Because this was Before Picard, there was only one Star Trek to pick from. Now there are several. Best idea: go to a used bookstore and pick out several. Engage!!
