what are my fish living on?

hi, i moved into a house last year and in the garden there was a pond; i used to feed the fish (goldfish i think) in the pond but had to go away for a month and when i got back i got out of habit doing it. this summer i've noticed the fish are fine and also i now have baby fish (fry)...

what are the fish living on and should i go back to feeding them?
