What are good options for a lightweight steel bicycles ?

Hi'

I'm looking for a lightweight (around 20 lbs) comfortable bike for commuting ( with budget less than $750 )

Are there any steel bikes within this range ?
( Or an alloy bike which is as comfortable as a a steel one )

I just want the money that I spend goes to comfort and lightweight instead of components.

You don't indicate if you have varied terrain on your commute and will thus be in need of gearing (as opposed to singlespeed bikes). I'll assume you want a geared bike.

The budget steel bikes that are available have...at best...straight gauge Cr-Moly tubing. Many of them are made of lesser steel, including the dreadful, heavier "hi-tensile" steel.

Getting a lightweight steel bike means getting high grade steel tubing. This comes at a heftier pricetag, especially today when few mfrs offer such steel bikes. This is definitely outside your budget.

For your budget, I really think you'd be better off with a quality aluminum frame. Today, many respectable bikes are made with butted & hydroformed aluminum tubing. This offers an incredible advantage in strength, stiffness, and overall comfort over aluminum frames made just 10-15yrs ago. Trek's 7.3FX has a frame constructed in this manner and is a good choice for a commuter.

Aluminum is...sadly...underrated today.
