What are good affordable used cars with good Mileage? Like Honda, Toyota, Nissan?

I am a first time car user, so I need to find a car that is easy to handle, cheap like 2-6K (MAX), and has good mileage, even if it is used. I also would like it at least look nice, not ugly, but perfectly fine to use, take friends out, and just to use overall.
What cars, specifically? Can you please like name some cars for me to look at besides Lexus?
 
Sure, Honda, Toyota and Nissan are good places to start.

You may also want to look at 90s Lexus such as the SC400, which was a beautiful sports car. GS300 was also nice looking sedan.
