What are employers looking for in a photography portfolio?

I'm trying to build my portfolio and I now have an Asssociate's Degree in Photographiy. What are employers looking for in my portfolio? I am going into Fashion photography. What are some things I need to include?

Skill! I'm surprised they didn't have you make a portfolio before you graduated... it's required at my school.

proper lighting, proper exposure and good composition

I'm a bit surprised you didn't already make one too. I'm going to the Art Institute right now, and it's a requirement to graduate.

Basically, look through fashion magazines... that's the kind of work that you'll want to have in your portfolio. I hope you have access to good lighting equipment, cause you're gonna need it!
