what an old cartoon with a six legged yellow sidekick?

i remember an old cartoon from when i was a kid.. it involved a main character, but i remember a yellow sidekick with six legs.. i watched this cartoon maybe around 1990, so it must be older than that

another cartoon i remember is one of a singing main character, in one movie or episode hes forced to sing a song for the villian, part of the lyrics are "i want you to hear my testimony, you think i am a singer but i really am a phony"

does anyone know or remember either of these cartoons?
