What am I doing wrong while lure fishing in Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess?

ok so here's the problem: I see the fish, I cast out to them and get them on the lure just fine, but as I get it closer to my canoe it never says land or anything and the fish always gets away, I've spent 2 hours trying to figure out what I am doing wrong, any ideas what I'm doing wrong? Nothing I've looked at off of my searches has helped at all they only repeat the useless instructions the guide tells me about how to catch them.

im not sure or even have an idea because i have been playing this game and as soon as i got the fish real close it said press A to land but the only thing i can think of is that ure not cloe enough
 
make sure that u're reeling the fish in properly.try reeling the fish in faster. i really dont know what could be wrong
