what am i doing wrong w/my Lightsnake Mic to USB Cable?

on the Sounds and Audio Devices Properties
the Audio tab's sound playback is my default device, & the sound recording is USB Audio Device.
& on the Voice tab's Voice playback is my default device, & the Voice recording is USB Audio Device.

then when i go on Sound Recorder & a click on record the lightsnake flashes, but once i press play to hear what i've recorded there is NO sound?

can you p l e a s e help me out?
